Details

The Bubble-Magus Curve 9 Internal Protein Skimmer is a high-performance filtration device designed for large marine and reef aquariums. It effectively removes dissolved organic waste, proteins, and other pollutants from aquarium water before they break down and affect water quality.

Featuring a high-efficiency needle-wheel pump and a specially designed curved skimmer body, it produces fine air bubbles that help collect organic waste into the removable collection cup. Its compact design, quiet air intake system, and easy-to-clean components make it suitable for large marine aquarium filtration systems.

How to Use

  1. Installation: Assemble the pump, skimmer body, air intake tube, and collection cup according to the manufacturer's instructions.

  2. Positioning: Place the skimmer inside the sump in a stable location.

  3. Water Level: Maintain approximately 25–27 cm of water around the skimmer, as specified in the standard Curve 9 manual.

  4. Connect Air Intake: Attach the airline tubing and air silencer correctly.

  5. Start the Pump: Ensure the pump is fully submerged before switching it on.

  6. Adjust Foam Level: Adjust the outlet control to achieve the desired foam height inside the skimmer neck.

  7. Initial Running: Allow a few days for the skimmer to break in and stabilize.

  8. Monitor Performance: Check the foam production and collection cup regularly during the initial setup.

Care and Maintenance

  • Collection Cup Cleaning: Empty and rinse the collection cup regularly to prevent waste accumulation.

  • Skimmer Neck Cleaning: Remove accumulated organic waste from the neck to maintain efficient foam collection.

  • Pump Cleaning: Clean the pump and impeller every 1–2 months.

  • Air Intake Cleaning: Check the airline and venturi regularly for salt deposits or blockages.

  • Bubble Plate: Inspect periodically and remove accumulated debris.

  • Complete Cleaning: Disassemble and clean the skimmer body periodically.

  • Avoid Chemicals: Do not use soaps, detergents, or harsh chemicals when cleaning aquarium components.

  • Water Level: Maintain a consistent sump water level for stable skimmer performance.

Maintenance Tip: Regularly clean the collection cup and skimmer neck to maintain consistent protein-skimming performance and healthy marine aquarium water quality.

Note: A new skimmer may require several days to achieve stable foam production. Actual performance depends on aquarium bioload, feeding, and water conditions.
